Research summary of Beacon's documentation, retrieved 18 October 2026. Not a hands-on test. Nobody at AI Lead Magnet Hub has used Beacon. This page describes what Beacon's own pages say, and nothing about how well the product works.

You have material you could turn into a lead magnet — an approved process note, a framework you use on every project, notes from a client call — and a choice in front of you. Pay for software that handles several jobs at once, or build the resource with what you already have. The question that settles it is which route costs you less of your own working time.

What Beacon documents can be set beside a do-it-yourself route, one task at a time: fix the brief, draft the copy, lay out the pages, export the file, capture the email, deliver the resource. Laid out that way, you can see where a subscription takes work off your desk, and where your own judgement still decides whether the result is any good.

One thing is worth settling before either route. If you have downloaded workbooks before and never opened them again, the cause is usually the same on both sides: the resource came from someone else's template rather than from a problem the reader actually has this month. A template editor will not fix that. The brief does, and the brief comes before any tool decision.

What Beacon documents about the software.

Beacon calls itself a "Complete Lead Magnet Solution" and describes three products.

Lead Magnet CreatorStart from "professional templates" or your own, and edit copy and images before launch. Feature names listed include Template Builder, Drag & Drop, Brand Styles, Personal Image Library, Blog Post Recycle, Helper Content and Auto Table of Contents.
Lead CaptureForms that ask visitors for an email address in return for a resource. The home page gives no further detail on form types.
Resource Library"Collect documents, videos, links and audio files in one place", as gated content. Password Protection is also listed.
Export"Traditional PDF", "Smart PDF" and "Multiple Formats" are named. The pages we checked do not explain the difference between the two PDF types.
IntegrationsThe integrations page lists WordPress and HubSpot, email tools including Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, AWeber, MailerLite and Brevo, plus Zapier and a Google Analytics tracking code. It mentions no plan restrictions.
AI draftingNot documented on the pages we checked.

Feature names as Beacon lists them.

Read that table as a list of claims rather than a list of behaviour. Each row records what Beacon says the software does. Whether it does it well is a separate question, and one you would answer yourself with your own material.

The home page also shows customer testimonials and case-study headlines about results. We have not verified them and do not repeat them.

Beacon and a do-it-yourself route, task by task.

A feature list does not tell you what your week looks like. The table below takes the same tasks either way and shows what changes when you hand them to software.

TaskWhat Beacon documentsDoing it yourself
Fix the briefTemplates and "Helper Content" are listed as starting points. You write the brief in your own document: reader, problem, promised outcome, source material and format. The same paragraph then governs every later step.
Draft the copyEditing copy and images before launch is documented. AI drafting is not documented on the pages we checked. You write from your approved notes. Nothing is generated for you, so the wording starts in your own material — which helps when your credibility rests on how precisely you phrase things.
Lay out the pagesTemplate Builder, Drag & Drop, Brand Styles, Personal Image Library and Auto Table of Contents are listed.Headings, spacing and page breaks are set in your own document editor. Slower to arrange, but the file stays yours to change afterwards.
Export the file"Traditional PDF", "Smart PDF" and "Multiple Formats" are named. The pages we checked do not explain the difference between the two PDF types. One PDF exported from the editor you already use. No new export menu to learn.
Capture the emailLead Capture forms that ask visitors for an email address in return for a resource. The home page gives no further detail on form types.A form on your own site, or one supplied by your email tool, connected to the list that will send the follow-up.
Deliver the resourceA Resource Library holding documents, videos, links and audio files, with Password Protection listed. The file sits with your host or in your file storage; the delivery email carries the link. File and list are kept separately.
Stay inside the limitsCaps on lead magnets, leads and page views differ by plan. See plan limits below. No platform cap to watch; you work within whatever hosting and email arrangements you already have.

Comparison of Beacon's documentation against a plain do-it-yourself process. The right-hand column describes a way of working, not a product.

Where the judgement stays either way.

In both routes, the decisions that determine whether the resource is worth downloading happen before the software matters: choosing one reader, promising one outcome you can actually deliver, and checking every claim against a source you can point to. A template editor speeds up assembly. It cannot tell you whether the advice is right for your niche, and it cannot tell you whether a sentence would embarrass you in front of a client.

That is the honest division of labour. Software can help you produce the file faster. The reasoning, the examples and the limits you state have to come from you.

Illustrative example
"A consultant holds an approved process note on onboarding new managers. Working alone, they cut it into a one-page checklist, set it in their document editor and export a PDF, then point an existing form at it. Taking the software route, the same checklist is assembled in a template, styled with brand settings and exported from there. The thinking is identical; only the assembly changes."

Illustrative only. Not a client result and not a description of Beacon in use.

Keep the design service separate from the software.

Beacon also sells a Lead Magnet Design Service, where its team designs the resource for you. It is a different purchase from the software, so judge it on its own terms. The software question is about who assembles the file; the service question is about who does the assembly at all.

Plans listedDone For You at $49 a month for 1 lead magnet a month; Done For You + at $299 a month for 5. Unused designs do not roll over.
What you supplyA short questionnaire and your content.
Stated termsUnlimited revisions; Beacon states a design "will never take more than 7 days". It works on one design at a time.
FilesAfter sign-off the file is moved to your Beacon account "so you have full ownership", and you can make later updates yourself.
Open questionThe service page does not state plainly whether a software plan is also required. The pricing page separately lists "Done For You" at $490 a year and "Done For You+" at $990 a year without detail. Ask Beacon which applies.

Service terms as stated on Beacon's page on 18 October 2026; not verified by us.

If you are weighing the service, the judgement question matters more than the software question. You are still the person who knows which reader you are writing for and which claims you can stand behind, so you will be supplying those either way.

Compare the plan limits.

Match the caps to your real volume before anything else. A monthly lead magnet allowance means little if the lead or page-view limit sits below the traffic you expect.

As listed on beacon.by/pricing, retrieved 18 October 2026, before any tax. Page views apply to resource libraries and capture forms, not lead magnets. Annual billing gives "2 months of Beacon for free" (Lite is shown at $190 a year). No minimum contract term is stated.

Rows for Smart PDF, Download PDF, Remove Beacon Logo, Full Template Library and Create Your Own Templates also appear on that page. We could not confirm from the retrieved page which plans include them, so check the live table before you rely on any of those names. If a feature you need sits in one of those rows, it belongs in your questions to Beacon, not in your assumptions about the plan you are buying.

Two limits are worth converting into your own numbers before you decide. Take the number of resources you realistically finish in a year and the number of people who need to sign in. Those two answers usually settle which row of this table applies to you.

Who it may suit, and who should look elsewhere.

Based only on what Beacon documents:

May suit you if

  • You want creation, capture forms and a gated library under one subscription.
  • Your email tool appears on Beacon's integrations list.
  • You publish few resources, and the free plan's limits fit.
  • You would rather assemble the file in a template editor than in a document editor.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need AI drafting from your notes; none is documented here.
  • Two or more people need logins below the Agency plan.
  • You only need a PDF and already have forms and email.
  • You want the copy to come straight from your own notes with no second workspace to keep in step.

Notice that none of these points is about quality. They are about fit: what you already own, how many resources you finish in a year, and how many people need access.

Drawbacks to examine.

  • Plan limits. Lead magnet, lead and page-view caps differ by plan; estimate your real volume first.
  • Manual copy coordination. Approved copy still has to be written, checked and moved into the editor.
  • Export ownership. Beacon's User Terms say it "is NOT a back up service". Keep your own copies of every export.
  • Extra services. The design service is a separate cost on top of, or instead of, the software.
  • Unnamed differences. The documentation names two PDF types without explaining how they differ, so treat export as something to check on the plan you choose.

Test it yourself on the free plan.

The most useful thing this page can give you is a way to check the product yourself. Beacon lists a free plan (see plan limits). Allow about 30 minutes; that is our estimate for one short checklist, not a tested figure.

Use your own approved material throughout. A test built on sample content tells you how the software behaves, not whether it fits your work.

Create one checklist from your brief.

Use your own approved brief and source notes, not a sample prompt. The Brief Builder's one-page brief works for this.

Apply your brand styles.

Use Beacon's "Brand Styles" with your own colours, fonts and logo, and note what you could not set.

Export the PDF.

Note which export options your plan offers. The pricing page lists "Download PDF" and "Remove Beacon Logo" rows we could not match to plans.

Open the PDF on a phone.

Check that text is readable without zooming, links work and page breaks fall in sensible places.

Try a capture form with a test address of your own.

Sign up with an email address you control, and check what arrives and whether it reaches your email tool.

Record what you edited.

Write down every change you had to make, so you can compare it with another tool given the same brief.

Run the same brief through your document editor on the same day and record the same columns. The difference between the two rows is the answer you are looking for, and it will be your measurement rather than ours.

Questions to ask Beacon.

Copy these into an email or chat with Beacon before you pay for a plan.

1. Which plans include Smart PDF, Download PDF and Remove Beacon Logo?
2. Does the Lead Magnet Design Service need a software plan as well? What are the "Done For You" ($490 a year) and "Done For You+" ($990 a year) rows on your pricing page?
3. If I cancel, can I still download my lead magnets, and what happens to my capture forms, resource library and collected leads?
4. Do any integrations, such as my email tool or Zapier, depend on the plan?
5. What happens when I reach my plan's lead or page-view limit?

What a hands-on review would need to establish.

These are the gaps a documented summary cannot close. Anyone reviewing the product properly would have to fill them with evidence, not impressions.

AreaQuestion to resolveEvidence needed
CreationCan an approved checklist or short guide be built?A same-brief sample.
Capture and libraryWhich access stages work on the chosen plan?An inspected sign-up flow.
EditingHow much revision and copy-moving is needed?Recorded changes.
ExportWhich files result, and with what restrictions?Opened exports and the terms.

Framework only. No feature has been verified in use.

No verdict yet: how to choose between the routes.

There is not enough verified evidence to recommend Beacon for a specific workflow, so here is the next best thing: the conditions that point each way, drawn from the documented material above. A future verdict would explain task fit, inspected outputs, editing effort, plan boundaries and remaining unknowns, as set out in our Review Methodology.

Look closer at Beacon if

  • You want creation, capture and a gated library in one subscription.
  • Your email tool is on the integrations list.
  • The plan caps fit the volume you actually expect.
  • You can get answers to the five questions above before you pay.

Stay with a do-it-yourself route if

  • You need one PDF and already have a form and an email tool.
  • Your copy depends on wording drawn carefully from your own notes.
  • You would rather not keep a second copy of the file and the list in step.
  • No one else needs a login.

Neither route is wrong. What wastes time is choosing the tool before the task is defined, then discovering the gap during the build.

Settle these four points before you commit to either route.

  • My brief and format are decided.
  • The plan I need covers my volume and users.
  • I know whether I need the software, the service or both.
  • My email tool connects, or I have another delivery path.
