Define the agency job before comparing plans.

This guide is for a small agency producing checklists, worksheets and short guides for two to five client brands. Agency work adds three jobs that a solo consultant rarely faces. Start one brief per client resource, then check each tool against these jobs.

Separate brands

Assess how each client's assets, copy and sources stay distinct.

Repeat production

Assess reuse, revisions and the effort of exporting again after changes.

Client handoff

Assess which files the client receives, who may edit them and who owns them.

If you work for one brand only, read our guide for consultants instead.

Build your brief as you read.

Use the free 21-page fillable Lead Magnet Brief Builder: 15 lettered worksheets from finding an idea to a one-page brief and a readiness check, with three fictional worked examples.

Use a matched two-brand sample.

An illustrative review protocol you can run yourself during a trial or free plan. It uses sample copy, not real client work.

Prepare approved sample copy and two distinct brand briefs.

Two fictional brands with different colours, fonts and logos are enough.

Apply each brand separately and record the plan.

Note the plan name, price and date you checked it.

Revise one resource, then export it again.

Check whether the other brand's settings leaked in.

Check the client handoff.

List the files, permissions and any limits you could not resolve.

Need identical test copy? Use one of our fictional sample campaign bundles, such as the agency “Client Kickoff Intake Checklist”, and apply both test brands to the same text. They are labelled samples, so no client material is involved.

Weigh the value against the trade-offs.

Potential value to assess

  • A consistent process reused across clients.
  • Clear separation of client brands.
  • Repeatable, client-ready output.

Trade-offs to investigate

  • Single-seat plans that do not allow a second operator.
  • Limits on reselling or passing on raw templates.
  • Brand settings that are shared rather than isolated.
  • Plan cost that rises steeply at the agency tier.

What the agency plans actually document.

Beacon and Designrr are documented alternatives named in our business plan. The facts below come from their own pages, retrieved on 18 October 2026. We have not used either product. Where a page is silent, we say so rather than assume.

Both vendors are covered in more depth in our Beacon research summary, our Designrr research summary and the Beacon vs Designrr comparison.

Template pack guide

Illustrative cost arithmetic. A hypothetical $100-a-month plan costs $1,200 a year. If four clients each receive five finished resources, that is 20 resources at $60 each before staff time. Use your own volumes and each vendor's current price.

Check the handoff before the purchase.

Who may access source files?

Logins, seats and any client access.

Does client use fit the terms?

Delivery and reuse by the end client.

Which formats are included?

On the plan you would actually buy.

What stays with the client?

Files and access if you or they stop paying.

The licence pages we read did not settle these questions. Designrr's Software License Agreement sets a default of one permitted user and does not expressly address client work or ownership of output. Beacon's User Terms make the licence non-transferable and non-sublicensable and do not specifically address agency or client use. This is a description, not legal advice: ask each vendor in writing, and a qualified adviser if the answer matters. Our template licence check lists the questions to ask.

Questions to send each vendor. Copy these into an email to the vendor's support or sales team, and keep the written reply with your plan record.
1. Seat sharing: how many people may log in on this plan, and may two people share one login?
2. Client licence: may resources we make with your software be delivered to, and used by, our clients, including for the client's own marketing?
3. Editable handoff: can we give a client an editable source file, and in which formats? Does the client need their own account to edit it?
4. Files on cancellation: if we or a client stop paying, what happens to published pages, exported files and stored sources, and how long do we have to download them?

Before you commit.

  • Brand and seat needs are documented.
  • Matched exports from two brands have been inspected.
  • Source files and the client handoff are covered.
  • Licence and reuse questions are resolved in writing.
  • Total cost per completed client resource is worked out.
  • Remaining limits are written down and visible.
